Burrenbeo Walk

‘Wandering through the Burren Winterage on Roughan Hill’

4th December 2011 with Frank O’Grady @ 2pm. Meet at Ballycashin Crossroads.  This in on the Kilnaboy to Kilfenora Road (R476).  It is the second turning to the left after Kilnaboy going westwards and is approximately 2.5km outside the village.  Parking will be available at the crossroads.
Frank is a Burren farmer and member of the Clare Farm Heritage Tours.  He is the third generation of his family to work this land.  Aside from learning more about the unique Burren tradition of winterage, Frank will show us some fascinating pieces of archaeology including mound walls, goats cros, ancient settlements and evidence of perhaps the first building boom in this country with a prehistoric quarry!
This walk is open to everyone.  However, it is free for Burrenbeo Trust Members and a donation of €5 from non-members.
Please bring good walking shoes and waterproofs if needed.  A reasonable level of fitness is required.   For more information please email trust@burrenbeo.com or phone 091 638096.
