- Managing scrub in the Burren - your ideas please
- The issue of scrub encroachment in the Burren has received much publicity recently, much of it as a result of a new report highlighting the threat to the Burren's ecology and archaeology. What do you think - is there a need and justification to intervene to limit the estimated 4.4% annual rate of increase in scrub cover in the region, or should we stand back and let nature take its course? If we are to control scrub - mainly hazel and blackthorn - how do we do it? Should chemical treatments be allowed? Traditional methods of control - are they practical this day in age? What of all the cut scrub - what should be done with this? Please let us know what you think! Where will the money for this kind of work come from?

- Building in the Burren
- In recent times, one of the most contentious issues regarding Ireland's rural landscape has been that of 'one off rural housing'. Some argue that 'bungalow bliss' is destroying our countryside, while others claim that overly-restrictive planning rules are choking rural communities.

- Mini dolmens
- Burrenbeo has received a number of emails and phone calls regarding the disturbing increase of tourists and visitors who insist on leaving their mark on the Burren landscape. The visitors can be found daily, erecting stone monuments and mini Dolmens across the Burren. The structures, which have been tolerated in the past, have now become so extreme in volume that many believe this particular form of 'vandalism' needs to be stopped immediately. Burrenbeo visited Ballyallaban hill last weekend and was amazed by the hundreds of new ' mini dolmens' dotted across the land.
What do you think about this?
