Burren Shopping

The Burren offers a unique shopping experience that generally caters for the needs of both visitor and local alike. As well as conventional shopping the Burren is home to a number of  farmer markets and organic fairs which are found throughout the year.

Many of the shops are located in the main shopping streets of the small towns dotted around the Burren with a few out on their own in the countryside. These shopping areas usually cater for most day to day food shopping needs with a number of supermarkets situated in the larger towns for quick access. The Burren is an ideal spot to sample some of Ireland's finest foods including some of It's best cheese and fish.

As well as a full range of food and retail shops the Burren has quite a large number of specialist and tourist oriented shops, selling an array of gifts.

Many visitors from outside the EU are encouraged to claim tax back on gifts bought from the Burren which of course makes shopping in the Burren extra good value.
Shopping in the Burren offers something for everyone, be it shopping for quality food products or locating small craft shops that sell unique and very often, beautiful, handcrafted goods.

Why not relive the traditional shopping experience at a local farmers market or maybe even consider purchasing some local art, much of which can be found in interesting galleries around the region

If shopping is your thing, you could in theory, shop for hours and hours across the Burren. Whatever your taste it can usually be catered for. Shops are open Monday to Saturday, excluding bank holiday. Most of the smaller craft/ gift stores stay open on bank holidays and Sundays and sometimes stay open late during summer hours.
